2nd violation in or out of season – Ineligible to participate for 1 calendar year.
(All disciplinary action takes effect immediately upon violation.)
Academic Policy
The St. Louis Park High School Theatre recognizes that theater is an extra-curricular activity. This means that academics must come first and that a student who is not succeeding academically should look closely at his/her priorities. To assist students in making sound decisions and in succeeding academically, the theatre department institutes the following policy on academic standards:
- To be eligible for a season of theatre, a student’s cumulative and past semester GPAs must be at least 2.000 and have no grades in the last term lower than a C.*
- To maintain eligibility throughout the season, students must be earning all A’s, B’s, C’s and S’s and attend class regularly. Grades lower than C will incur the following consequences*.
- 1 D or F – the student must meet with his/her teacher and make a plan for raising the grade to a C- or better.
- 2 D’s or F’s – the student may retain their eligibility on a probationary status:
- Weekly grade reports will be required
- Grades must be improved within 2 weeks
- Student will have perfect attendance
- 3 or more D’s or F’s – parents will be contacted and the theatre director will recommend removal of eligibility.
- Failure to raise grades, or poor class attendance, will result in removal from the current production.
*Alternative criteria will be created by the theatre director, the activities coordinator, and the parents for students in Special Education or students who have an applicable 504 plan.
